Smartwatch

I bought a smartwatch. I’d always bought the super cheap bands on amazon but the last one I bought didn’t actually work so if you try to save too much money you just end up wasting it.

I went with the Galaxy 7 smartwatch. I’ve got plans to set up an instance of whisper and connect it to my droplet in digital ocean so I can “Computer please ...” and it will execute what I’m saying.

Coding

I took some time off from using claude code (pretty much today, I haven’t done any coding...today lmfaoooo) and I think I might just take the weekend off too. Do some work on getting the grow tent set up.

Coming back to crow tomorrow or Sunday I’m going to be reading code trying to wrap my head around how this all works.

Dang I want a place to pour out my heart but this is a public facing document hahahaha. Dang. Welp.

Yeah this is what my private repo on github was for see. Hmmm going to have to think about that.

Don’t think this is a job for PDS or static sites.

I guess I’m back to thinking about webpages I guess.

Fitness

So today is the first full day I’ve had my watch and yes I did hit my 10k step target. It comes with a 6k step target but I’m used to google fit’s 10k target (and every other step tracker I’ve ever had too) so I bumped it up to 10k.

I did 3 laps today and I was at like 8k steps at 21:00 so I’m like “okay back on the elliptical” because I’ve been using the elliptical every day that’s what I did on my break. I didn’t go anywhere I refactored my agent and IDE and started working out and taking more and longer walks. That’s what I wanted to do on my break. I should make a habit out of going places, but first things first, let’s make a habit out of what I want to do while I’m here.

Seems to be working. I got 10k steps today. The bad news is that the watch is really optimized to count steps not whatever the heck you’re doing on the elliptical which I guess are like swings sort of so yeah. I just ended up going outside and walking a couple of laps around the house to get the last 1500 steps.

It is really accurate though this phone has been running me ragged man. Like 3 laps is around 7500 steps, and I’ve been doing 3 laps almost every day for like a year now man no really I get at least two laps in every single day.

But yeah now I know that I can really knock out my steps in the morning by chucking on some boots and doing 4 morning laps is just what I needed. Okay the last “water proof” trail shoes I bought on amazon were total hocus pocus but we’ll see. These are new balance and they say “Gore-tex” in the title so they really should be waterproof.

Going to start knocking out my 10k steps early as hell. 4 laps? Man I can do 4 laps in the morning. That’s why the fact I weight almost 300 lbs doesn’t really bother me that much. I press on my gut and it barely goes in man. Like I don’t know I guess I do have some water weight to cut down on and yeah I could run further and longer absolutely I need to be in better shape, but I’ll tell you what...just walking a lot helps a lot. Like I hadn’t done any jogging for months just walking a lot, many times a day for long distances sometimes but definitely just out there moving legs doing a few kilometers a day minimum and I did some light jogging and I didn’t get tired for a lot longer than I would have thought.

Big as I am (6’ 300 lbs) and I’m jogging like half a kilometer without slowing down at a pretty decent pace like yeah okay this is good here’s a plan: KEEP WALKING. This walking thing is really good for you.

So yeah I just bought some Gore-tex New Balance trail shoes maybe they will be half as waterproof as my big heavy wolverine clunkers so I can just slip on my running shoes in the morning.

I have trouble motivating myself to actually put on shoes tbh. I’ve been doing the elliptical in flip flops. I need to stay at that even if the watch doesn’t recognize it as steps/running. It’s really really good for me to just do it every day to break a sweat and keep the sweat going for a good 15-20 minutes. I want to do it after I’m all sweaty from power walking 4 laps in the morning so I can do another 20-30 minutes and get just freaking drenched before I hop in the shower and start the day.

So yeah only 4 laps man it took me like freaking 6 laps with my phone in my pocket lmfaoooo this sucks so bad I should have bought a damn smartwatch. It isn’t overcounting either I can bring it up and watch the steps get counted as I step them out so yeah it’s accurate.

Thinking I need to go do the 4 laps in the morning by my lonesome? Or maybe do 3 laps by myself, hit the elliptical, THEN take dogs for their morning walk? Because yeah they miss out on it sometimes but we usually take a walk in the morning time I like getting out there if I’m up.

Okay so here’s the plan:
